hey dude. well there's nothing wrong with looking at a midi file/sheet music/tab or other reference. It doesn't need to be played directly by ear, but just made from scratch. If what you're doing is just uploading the midi into FL studio, replacing with it instruments, that's not a remix, and takes minimal effort. it's also against the rules. I would rather hear your original work; but if you're doing a remix, I would personally want to hear your style by altering or adding on to the actual compositon's melody, rhythm, or just giving a spin to the central theme(s). don't be afraid to mess around with it and just see what comes out.
